울트라 HD 블루레이 재생이 가능하며, 이외에도 블루레이 디스크, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, SACD, CD 등의 재생을 지원한다. 이외에 BD-R/RE, CPRM 기록의 DVD-R/RW의 재생이 가능하다.
전면에 USB 2.0×1, 후면에 USB 3.0×2를 제공한다. USB 메모리, 네트워크를 통한 동영상/음악재생이 가능하고, 음악은 스테레오 및 멀티채널 192kHz/24bit AIFF, WAV, ALAC, APE, FLAC 파일과 스테레오 1bit/5.6MHz(DSD128) 및 멀티채널 2.8MHz(DSD64)의 DSD 포맷의 재생이 가능하여, 오디오 플레이어로도 충실한 기능을 제공한다.
시스템 제어보드의 SoC는 커스텀 미디어텍(MediaTek)의 쿼드코어 프로세서 ‘OP8591’를 탑재했으며, DAC는 아사히 전자의 ‘AK4458VN’를 사용한다.
UHD BD에 사용하는 HDR 기술 ‘HDR10’, 광색역 규격 ‘BT.2020’을 지원한다. 또한, 2017년 예정된 펌웨어 업데이트를 통해 HDR 기술 ‘돌비 비전(Dolby Vision)’을 지원할 예정이다.
기가비트 이더넷(Gigabit Ethernet) 외에 IEEE 802.11ac 지원 와이파이(Wi-Fi)를 탑재한다. DLNA, SMB 방식으로 PC, NAS에 저장된 미디어 파일을 재생할 수 있다. 또한 지상파 디지털 등을 녹화한 데이터를 홈 네트워크를 통해 시청하기 위한 DTCP-IP를 지원한다.
사용자 인터페이스를 개선하여 조작성을 향상시켰다. 또한, HDMI 입력을 제공하여 크롬캐스트(Chromecast) 같은 HDMI 미디어 플레이어와 연결할 수 있어 스트리밍 서비스 등을 강화할 수 있다.
출력단자는 HDMI×2, 광 디지털 음성×1, 동축 디지털 음성×1, 아날로그 7.1채널(RCA)×1, 아날로그 음성(RCA)×1개를 제공한다. 2개의 HDMI는 HDMI 2.0을 지원하는 영상·음성 출력용 메인단자와 HDMI 1.4 지원의 오디오 출력 전용단자로, 메인단자는 UHD 규격 지원 디스플레이와 프로젝터 등과 연결할 수 있으며, HDMI 1.4 단자는 AV 앰프 등과 연결할 수 있다. A/V 분리 출력을 지원한다.

Advanced Image Processing Technology
With over a decade of experience developing high-end DVD and Blu-ray players, OPPO has once again teamed with MediaTek to produce and manufacture a specialized 4K UHD Blu-ray decoder SoC – the quad-core OP8591, which offers the most advanced image decoding and processing technology available for 4K UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and user generated media formats.
Advanced Audio Processing
The UDP-203 features a premium 32-bit DAC from AKM, the AK4458VN, which is an 8-channel DAC with support for formats such as 192 kHz / 32-bit PCM and multi-channel DSD.
4K UHD Blu-ray and Media Playback
The UDP-203 is capable of playing the new 4K UHD Blu-ray discs as well as 4K media files and user generated content. Support for decoding the HEVC, H.264, VP9 4K, and Hi10P video codecs provides increased compatibility with user generated media.
HDR and HDR to SDR Conversion
One of the more exciting elements of the new 4K UHD format is the inclusion of high-dynamic range (HDR) video and an expanded color range, allowing for more natural and true-to-life colors. The UDP-203 supports the HDR10 format, and it is also capable of providing an accurate conversion from HDR to SDR for older displays.
Support for Dolby Vision will be available in the future via a firmware upgrad
Upscaling to Ultra HD (4K) Resolution
The UDP-203 is capable of upscaling lower resolution content up to 4Kx2K at 50/60Hz to a compatible display, which is four times the resolution found on a 1080p Blu-ray disc.
Advanced Picture Control
The UDP-203 also features advanced picture controls. Adjustments can be made to brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, and sharpness, allowing the customer to make adjustments to compensate for any limitations found in their other home theater components, or merely to adjust the image to their own personal taste.
Supports up to 4k@60 resolution with native 4:4:4 Color Space
The UDP-203 features support for all current SD, HD, and UHD resolutions, including 4K@60p, 4K@50p, 4K@30p, and 4K@24p using various color spaces such as PC RGB, Video RGB, YCbCr 4:4:4, 4:2:2, and 4:2:0.
7.1-Channel Analog Output
To ensure compatibility with older amplifiers, pre-amps, and receivers that do not support HDMI, the UDP-203 retains a 7.1 multi-channel analog output section, which delivers an incredible sound stage and an immersive surround experience.
Easily Integrated into a Home Theater System
The UDP-203 is easy to integrate into any system due to its ability to receive standard IR, RS-232, third party IP Control system, and HDMI CEC commands. The player also supports Trigger In and Out, so it can automatically turn on and off other devices connected to it for the ultimate convenience.
High Resolution User Interface
The newly updated, high-resolution user interface has been designed to be incredibly convenient to navigate, and provides an easy way to manage and access media files from both local and network storage.
Diversified Media Support
The UDP-203 is able to play all standard optical disc formats, such as 4K UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD, DVD-Audio, SACD, and CD. It also supports connected USB hard disks and thumb drives, and has the ability to access content from DLNA servers and SMB shares over the local network.
